Edison Properties for Sale

Edison is a township in Middlesex County.  As of the 2010 United States Census, Edison had a total population of 99,967, retaining its position as the fifth-most populous municipality in New Jersey.  What is now Edison Township was originally incorporated as Raritan Township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 17, 1870, from portions of both Piscataway Township and Woodbridge Township.  Portions of the township were taken to form Metuchen on March 20, 1900, and Highland Park on March 15, 1905. The name was officially changed to Edison Township on November 10, 1954, in honor of inventor Thomas Edison, who had his main laboratory in the Menlo Park section of the township. Shopping and Dining

Edison is the home of Menlo Park Mall which is a 2-level super regional mall featuring Macy's, Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Benihana, The Cheesecake Factory, Champps Bar & Restaurant, Romano's Macaroni Grill, IchiUmi Seafood & Sushi Buffet, Rainforest Cafe, Chipotle, AMC Dine-In Theatre and a variety of Specialty Foods in our Food Court.  Some of our stores include Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Apple, Arden B, Armani Exchange, BCBG MAXAZRIA, Coach, Chico's, Forever 21, Godiva, Hollister, H&M, J. Crew, j.jill, Lucky Brand Jeans, Michael Kors, Old Navy, Pandora, Sephora, Soma Intimates, Sony Style, Swarovski, Urban Outfitters, Vans, Vera Bradley, Work Out World and Zara.  From the boutiques, to antiques, to department stores, to specialty shops, to the .com companies, warehouses sale days, the many retail businesses in Edison Township contribute to the economy and offer the fun and convenience of shopping close to home. The many stores along many avenues, the variety of store fronts in the many strip shopping centers are shopper’s delights. Visit the world famous Harold’s New York Deli featuring the world's best corned beef, pastrami, pickle bar, and cheesecake. 

Parks and Recreation

The park system is extensive and includes two large county parks. Edison provides a range of beautiful outdoor spaces and recreational activities with more than 20 well-equipped and staffed neighborhood playgrounds, softball fields and golf courses for the public to enjoy. There are 1,350 acres of parkland in Edison.   Among the thirty parks offered, Roosevelt Park (a Middlesex County Park) provides a beautiful place to enjoy a stroll around the lake or to take in a play at the open-air theater. This park offers a pristine 217 acres to the large crowds that assemble at the lake’s edges. Papaianni Park, on 15 acres, includes a lake and picnic grove.  Edison has two golf courses: in Plainfield and Metuchen. Edison also is in close proximity to a record 50 golf courses, both public and private, making it ideal for the regular golfer to find a place to tee off and network with friends or colleagues.

Living

Edison was ranked the 28th most livable small city in the United States by CNN Money Magazine, and the 2nd in New Jersey in 2006 in Money Magazine's "Best Places To Live".  In 2008 two years later, Money Magazine changed the town's ranking to 35 out of the top 100 places to live in the United States of America.  In the 2006 survey of America's Safest Cities, the township was ranked 23rd, out of 371 cities included nationwide, in the 13th annual Morgan Quitno survey.  In 2009, Edison was ranked as one of "America's 10 Best Places to Grow Up" by U.S. News and World Report. The rankings focused on low crime, strong schools, green spaces, and abundance of recreational activities. Amboy Avenue is particularly beautiful, quaint and one can take a leisurely walk along the historic area. And occasionally, the family can sit to view the parades. During the summer months, Amboy Avenue features a Farmers Market on Sunday’s where people can purchase most Jersey Fresh produce.

Schools, Health, Transportation

The Edison Township Public Schools serve students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district's two high schools separate the south and north ends of Edison.  In the Edison High School zone to the south, there are six K–5 elementary schools, while in the J.P. Stevens High School zone there are five K-5 elementary schools.  J.P. Stevens was the 80th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 328 schools statewide in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2012 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 65th in 2010 out of 322 schools listed, while Edison High School was ranked 174 in 2012 and 169 in 2010. 

There are also many private schools in Edison.  Serving residents of Middlesex is JFK Medical Center a non-profit 498-bed community hospital.  With more than 900 affiliated physicians, JFK offers a complete array of advanced services including general and specialized surgery, cardiac care, maternity and pediatric care, and emergency medicine. JFK Medical Center is an affiliate of JFK Health System and accredited by the Joint Commission. 

Edison is a transportation hub, with an extensive network of highways passing through the township and connecting to major Northeast cities, New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Trenton, Washington, D.C. and others.  Edison also hosts various roadways.  Edison station, located in South Edison, is served by New Jersey Transit northbound trains to Newark Penn Station and Penn Station New York, and southbound to the Trenton Transit Center via the Northeast Corridor Line, with connecting service to Amtrak. Some passengers in North Edison may actually live closer to, and prefer to use, the Metropark (in neighboring Iselin) or Metuchen stations.  New Jersey Transit bus service is provided on the 62 route to Newark, with local service available on many other routes.  China Airlines provides private bus service to John F. Kennedy International Airport from the Kam Man Food Inc. at 511 Old Post Road in Edison to feed its flight to Taipei, Taiwan.
