Alexandria Township is a township in scenic Hunterdon County in western New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 4,938. Settled by Europeans in the early 1700s, the township was named for James Alexander who purchased 10,000 acres in this locale in 1744. In 1765, the split from Bethlehem established the Township of Alexandria. Alexandria includes the historic villages of Everittstown, Mt. Pleasant, Little York and part of Pittstown. Farming still plays an important role in the life of residents. Crop, dairy and horse farms continue to dot the countryside.

Shopping and DinThe Milford market located in Milford offers deli, butcher meats, beer, wine, and groceries. Catering menu is available. Bo Bo’s is a Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu and a loyal local following. They have a wide variety of meat dishes and some vegetarian ones also. Bo Bo is basically a Chinese take-out restaurant but they you can eat in their small modest dining room. The Little York Tavern offers a wide variety of Italian and American dishes in a casual atmosphere. They are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. They offer a full bar, serving wine, beer and cocktails. They sometimes feature live music. They are located in rural Hunterdon County in the little village of Little York. Many shops are located throughout the township. The most concentrated of which are located off Main St., Leigh St., and West Center St. in downtown Clinton. There is also the Wal-Mart Plaza off of Pittstown Rd. There is an A & P and a Shoprite grocery store. Clinton Township contains many incredible restaurants and eateries. Some of the few local favorites include; Pizza Como a family run business with fantastic food. Natales Pizzeria has some best pizza in town. The Clinton House is an old fashioned restaurant with great steaks. Voted one of the best places for Continental Food. Ye Olde Sub Base if you are craving a sub, this is place to go. Clinton Bagel serving the best bagels and breakfast sandwiches in town. Ol’ West BBQ the best BBQ you can find north of Tennessee. Clinton Station Diner which is a large diner with attached train car as a one of the dining rooms. Large selection and even larger burgers. Home to the 50lb. burger the "Mt. Olympus"! Finnagel’s Restaurant is a great Irish bar.
Alexandria NJ Parks and Recreation
The Park and Recreation Commission serves the recreational needs of Alexandria Township. They are responsible for organizing and caring for the Township’s recreation programs as well as the Township Park. Some of the recreation programs and events they support: Soccer, Fishing Derby, Basketball, Adult Basketball, Adult Volleyball, and Summer Concerts in the Park. The Park is located at 242 Little York-Mount Pleasant Road and consists of about 93 acres; pproximately half is open space. They have two baseball/softball diamonds, four full-sized soccer/lacrosse fields, a wonderful playground called “Kidtopia“, and walking trails (asphalt/gravel paths of 1.1 miles; another mile of grass/mulch paths). In addition there are two full-sized basketball courts and two bocce courts. There is have an equestrian facility with an indoor and outdoor riding arena, and horses may ride the nature trails and perimeter of the park. Located in Alexandrea is New Jersey’s only public Pump Track. The disc golf course has 18 holes. Future plans include more parking, and a third baseball diamond.
Living in Alexandria

Schools, Health, Transportation
The Alexandria Township School District serves students in preschool through eighth grade. Students in public school for grades 9 - 12 attend the Delaware Valley Regional High School, part of the Delaware Valley Regional High School District, which serves students in western Hunterdon County. Students from Alexandria, Holland and Kingwood Townships along with the boroughs of Frenchtown and Milford attend the high school. The Delware Regional Valley High School was the 131st-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 328 schools statewide in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2012 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 88th in 2010 out of 322 schools listed.
St. Luke's Warren Hospital located in Phillipsburg, NJ is a community-based, integrated system of health care services that works closely with its physician colleagues to provide superior patient care. Hunterdon Medical Center is 13 miles away. No Interstate, U.S. or State routes pass through. Only major roads, such as CR 513, CR 519 and CR 579 (which only runs along the northeast border), pass through Alexandria. Interstate 78 is the closest limited access road which is accessible outside the municipality in bordering Union and Franklin Townships. Newark Liberty International Airport is 50 miles away.
